Ranting & Rambling: by D.W. Wade

This is the second of many columns I intend to write. The focus is not important. Sometimes it may be a rant, and others an excessive bit of rambling. Today I would like to give my opinion on bad relationships.

Hello Everyone. Let me tell you about the soap opera around my house. My friend Roy (22) is married to Kathy (21). Both nice enough people, but considerably unhappy. Well at least he is, the problem: Kathy canžt get off her ass to clean anything. Roy works long hours (12 to 14 hours a day) and comes home to a dirty house. Those were his words, I'm not taking sides here. Wait it gets better, they have a little boy and another rug rat on the way.

Our second couple consists of Justin (21) who is shacked up with Tami (19). Again both nice enough people, but considerably unhappy. Well at least she is, a break-up is in the works as I type. The problems: Justin has a ten year old sister who he just happens to have custody of, because his momma is a crack whore. You need to realize we live in a Midwestern town of about 60,000 people. Crack whores are not common place. Around two years ago his mother and dad were separated, while having an argument on the phone dad went outside and blew his head off. So maybe that sent momma over the edge, who knows.

Now you have a nineteen year old girl who is stuck playing momma to a ten year old who has been drug around from crack house to crack house for a couple of years. Who can blame her for wanting out.

Now is there a lesson, or maybe two, to be learned here? Not too many years ago I was stuck in a similar situation as our friend Roy, except no kids. I don't believe everyone's needs are being met. Roy and Tami are obviously not feeling appreciated for their efforts in the relationships. Maybe there should be a law: No one shall make life altering decisions till thirty! I pick thirty because usually by thirty you have all your ducks in a row. Your goals are pretty much determined, and youžve had enough failed relationships to know what you need to be happy.

Write your Congressman...........Till next time............Smell Ya Later....
