Exclusive inerview with" Planet of the Apes" star Koko the Talking Monkey: by Jason Lewis

Disk-O: Koko, you have been in some very dramatic roles. Which type of roles do you prefer?

Koko says: It depends on the writing. It also depends on who is directing.

Disk-O: You tend to be in movies that are somewhat hardcore.

Koko says:
I like hardcore. I love the excitement of the unexpected. (laughs)

Disk-O: What made you take the role in the "Planet of the Apes" movie?

Koko says: It was one of those things I felt I couldn't say no to. For God's sake look at me, I'm a monkey.

Disk-O: Does Tim Burton have a monkey fetish?

Koko says: Yeah, but in a good way. He's really into bananas. Meanwhile, he's quite ape-mane. I was flattered to be part of the action. At the same time I got a taste and desire of what he was trying to achieve. It felt very much like home.

Disk-O: We've been wondering for years and now I can ask ! Any relation to the chimpanzee from "Any Which Way but Loose"?

Koko says: Many people have asked this and I wish I could say yes, but I have to say no, although I did sleep with him one time. I know for a fact though, that we are not related.

Disk-O: What do you consider to be your breakthrough role in acting?

Koko says: I think my real breakthrough was "Cheetah does Tarzan."

Disk-O: How long did the shoots last per day?

Koko says: It's kind of normal to wake up at 5 to be ready at 7 and then another 12 hours for the day. So 14 hours per day over 2 or 3 months. I wasn't by any means used every minute of every hour though.

Disk-O: What was the hardest part to making "Planet of the Apes"?

Koko says: I think it was keeping from scratching myself at inappropriate times.

Disk-O: What are your passions besides acting?

Koko says: Porn! Eating and sleep has something to do with it. Especially since I'm doing this chat in the middle of the night.

Disk-O: What is your favorite book?

Koko says: "Curious George".

Disk-O: How did you discover your talent of being an actress?

Koko says: Goat Daddy was really the starting point. From early on I went though a very genuine and innocent urge to just pretend.

Disk-O: Was it fun doing those guest shots on "Goat Daddy"?

Koko says: It was fun. It was easy since I own the company. It was bizarre but fun.

Disk-O: What do you find most appealing in a chimp? Stunning good looks, or animal magnetism?

Koko says: (giggles) Animal ferosciousness really turns my crank!

Disk-O: Thanks for taking the time for this crazy interview. Best of luck with "Planet of the Apes."

Koko says: I hope everyone enjoys the movie.
