Johnathan Walker Lindh is a champion gymnast. In the tiny, yet savage,
country of Parmistan, there is a perfect spot for a "Bally Total
Fitness Center" site. For the US to get this site, they must compete
in the brutal "Game". The government calls on Lindh, the son
of a former operative, to win the game. Lindh must combine his gymnastics
skills of the west with fighting secrets of the east and form Gymkata
- a fictional fighting style he learned from repeatedly watching the 1985
movie "GYMKATA" directed by Robert Clouse.
Soon after Lindh arrives in Parmistan, he is bitten by a radioactive scarab
(aka: "dirty bug") unleashed by cruel and treacherous dictator
Satam Hinsane (Matt Damon) but the joke is on Satam! Lindh awakens the
next day to find that his DNA (Ben Affleck) has been fused with two very
extreme fanatical dogmas transforming him into "American Taliban".
As American Taliban, Lindh is troubled by self-doubt and the awesome responsibilities
that come from having super powers. Lindh soon finds moral guidance from
an animated sidekick named "Jihad" the misunderstood donkey
(voice of Eddie Murphy) and by cryptic neuro-transmitter messages from
his super DNA (Ben Affleck). Of course we can’t forget to mention
academy award winner Cuba Gooding Jr. and his role as the one legged cook
who struggles against all odds to become American Taliban's personal
trainer.
Action reigns as the film is enveloped by a series of highly choreographed
bio-gymnastic fight scenes created by Donald Rumsfeld and the team at
Industrial Light and Enforcement (Oscar?? buzz... buzz...). Look
for some surprising fight scene cameos from Patrick Swazy, Richard Gere
and Bruce Jenner.
