32 days in
Eastern Malaysia in 375 words and still give the reader any sense of what
it is like, but I will attempt to share my experiences anyway. I begin
preparing for this trip by running 5 miles every other day or so because
one needs all the wind they can get while trekking for 10 miles with 40
Lbs on their back. Having read every book on Borneo and wilderness survival
I could get my hands on
including
"How To Stay Alive in the Woods" and "The Pagan Tribes of Borneo", I figured
I was more than prepared to climb three mountains and survive in the jungle
by eating beetles and lizards, should I be called on to perform these tasks.
In addition, before leaving I was vaccinated against japanese encephalitis,
typhoid fever, yellow fever, cholera, hepatitis A and B, tetanus, diptheria,
and given a prophylaxis against plasmodium falciparum Malaria. Finally
I was set, and accompanied by my colleague and friend, Kevin Anthony we
readied ourselves for the 23 hour ride to the other side of the world.
